The Need
Lesotho is severely afflicted by HIV/AIDS, according to 2009 estimates the prevalence is about 23.6% one of the highest in the world, in urban arears about 50% of women under 40 have HIV. The UNDP stated that in 2006 life expectancy in Lesotho was estimated at 42 years for man and women. Poverty in Nigeria remains significant despite high economic growth, with an economic growth rate averaging 74% over the last decades. A well developed economy and plenty of natural resources such as crude oil. However, it retains high levels of poverty with 63% living on less than $1 per day, implying a decline in equity.
Our Projects
Mould the Future’s Breakfast Initiative provides nutritious meals to primary school children at Oko Oba Primary School, Abeokuta Street, Lagos, Nigeria. This program aims to encourage children from deprived backgrounds to attend school instead of roaming the streets, hawking, or begging for alms. The initiative has led to increased school attendance.
In Lesotho, in collaboration with the Catholic Church in Maputsoe, we feed orphaned children as part of our commitment to rehabilitating those disadvantaged by HIV/AIDS. Additionally, we collaborate with the Sarian Care Foundation, an approved adoption service provider in Nigeria, to further support children in need.
Our Aims
Mould the Future aims to:
1. Build Orphanages and Safe Houses: Establish facilities for street orphans in Lesotho, South Africa, and abandoned children in Nigeria, transitioning them from institutional care to family care.
2. Alleviate Poverty: Provide food and care for orphaned children to alleviate poverty and improve their quality of life.
3. Re-orientate and Educate: Educate street and orphaned children, offering them new perspectives and knowledge.
4. Empower with Skills: Equip children with essential skills to make them self-reliant and valuable members of society.
5. Ensure Safety: Keep children safe until they are mature enough to be reintegrated into society.
